What is StainedGlass?

StainedGlass is a Spout plugin that adds a number of custom glass blocks to Minecraft. The Stained Glass blocks are purely for decorative purposes and they can be placed just as you would with regular glass but they appear to Spoutcraft users as different colors, depending on which block is crafted. Any players not using Spoutcraft will see these blocks as normal plain glass so the look of any structure would be unaffected. The colors of the stained glass blocks are as closely matched as possible to that of colored wool blocks.



Crafting a Stained Glass Block

Stained glass blocks are made using 2 dye and glass block in a workbench just like regular items. All of the colors are made in the same way with the appropriate dyes.

• Red
• Green
• Brown
• Blue
• Purple
• Cyan
• Light gray
• Gray
• Pink
• Lime
• Yellow
• Light Blue
• Magenta
• Orange
• White

Installation

Installation of StainedGlass is very simple.
1. Download the latest StainedGlass.jar
2. Place StainedGlass.jar in your plugins directory
3. Restart your server (or reload if you prefer)

Requirements:

StainedGlass is a Spout plugin so you are required to have Spout installed on your server. Since StainedGlass uses the newer custom block API, there is a minimum build requirement. Unfortunately builds earlier than 520 use a now depreciated custom block API and this will not work correctly with StainedGlass.

• Server side: with CraftBukkit RB1337, Spout build 520 is required.
• Server side: with CraftBukkit RB1597, Spout build 644 is required.
• Server side: with CraftBukkit RB1818, SpoutPlugin build 721 is required.
• For later versions of CraftBukkit, you'll want newer Spout builds.
• Client side: Spoutcraft is required to see the custom blocks.

So that people dont believe the troll which decided to inhabit the BukkitDev page, I have tested StainedGlass v0.1.1 with the following setups:

The plugin is behaving exactly as expected in both configurations. You might see some block break issues with the newer Spoutcraft versions and you can use creative mode to break them if you experience this problem. Unfortunately I cannot do anything about the break issue as it is somewhere in Spout or Spoutcraft.

BukkitDev has gone bonkers and is just giving me an internal server error when I try to download it. Can you set up a temporary link?

Ignore my last message, it works fine now ^.=.^ On the other hand the blocks strobe weirdly when I move around them. Otherwise it works beautifully.

Maybe a silly question but...does this also work with glass panels? I mean can i dye panels too or can i create colored panels if i split colored glass?

Ah sorry, but it was neither confirmed nor denied so i thought asking would be better than "omg y u not support panels exclamation mark exclamation mark omg omg" .

Well a future thing i am looking forward to ^^. I just hope placing panels to customeblocks doesnt break something if panels are not supported by spout.

Oh another question. Does light that go through colored glass change the color of the light?

I guess it does not cause the minecraft lightning engine got rewritten by notch to be rather blueish during night but i am also not an awesome coder as the people on here so who knows what magic you have in your fingers <.<.

(*whispers* Also who would not love colorful glowstone / torches / glasscolored light after seeing the latest super disco / rave terraria trailer xD)

and thinking about it i guess to have no lightchance is acctualy better. playing arround with higher maps and whenever theres the change from night to day or reverse i get huuuuge lag ^^.

But one more question. Will i be able to customize the texture of the blocks?
From the missing stains on the glass i can tell its not a color overlay but i am curious if i will be able tinker arround with it myself.

I am also asking because mods like connected surfaces were really liked due to their ability to add shapes to glass depending on how it was placed next to each other and i would surely not put it past spout to maybe support it in the future .

Thats said once the new rb for bukkit is out and spoutcraft supports it i am sure i will try to get this running on the server asap. Looking forward to give more feedback and regards from the people on my server :3.

I have an idea ^.=.^ Some kind of artificial, transparent glowstone! Instead of using dyes, you would use either blaze poweder or glowstone dust.

I don't know if the lighting bugs are fixed yet though.

Minor suggestion to add maybe? Absolute clear?

I was referring to to an absolutely clear block. As in not default/user-using texture pack detailing the glass block.
I might just get spout materials and make my own clear glass type.
